About me

Having graduated from NUI, Galway in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, I traveled to New York and settled there for two years. On returning, I did a Higher Diploma in Education. I learned from my teaching experience that I had more interest in the people I was teaching than the curricula and this propelled me to do a stint volunteering with Childline's Helpline service. A certificate in Counselling Skills with NUI, Maynooth was followed by a three year Masters degree in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy with the University of Limerick from where I graduated with honours.

I began my work as a trainee with NUI, Galway Counselling services and continue to work there on a part time basis. Since graduating I have completed certificate courses in Working with Trauma, Motivational Interviewing and on Developing Self-compassion. Workshops I have attended include the topics of Anger Management, the Impact of Child Sexual Abuse, Mindfulness, Neuropsychology and many more. I continue to attend various seminars and workshops in order to develop professionally.

I am a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapists since 2011. This is a regulatory body with strict criteria for membership and I abide by their code of ethics.
